Who we help

Veterans in Memphis and the surrounding area who need stable, affordable housing — and the people who are trying to help them find it.

01

Veterans who need a stable address

Men and women who have served and are looking for an affordable home of their own — a settled base after a stretch of instability.

02

Veterans rebuilding after a hard stretch

Veterans who have come through a difficult period and need a settled place to live while they put the pieces back together.

03

Caseworkers, relatives and friends

People advocating for a veteran who cannot make the call themselves. A great many of our conversations start exactly this way.

Our veterans built our freedom.

Now it’s our turn to build their future.

“Cantare Veterans Housing Solutions is committed to providing quality, affordable housing for veterans, creating stable living environments that empower them to rebuild, thrive and achieve their goals.”

Tammie Tate Sherrod · Founder, Cantare Veterans Housing Solutions

What we provide

We provide the accommodations ourselves — real homes, offered at a price a veteran can sustain, with someone in their corner while they get steady again.

Serving those who served

Affordable Housing Options

Quality homes offered at a rent a veteran can actually sustain.

Every home we provide is clean, maintained and ready to live in from the first night. The rent is set with a veteran’s budget in mind rather than a market rate, so it is a home they can stay in.

Furnished Homes

Move-in ready and furnished, so a veteran can settle in from day one.

Our homes come furnished — the bed, the table, the everyday things that make a house livable. A veteran arriving with little more than a duffel bag still walks into somewhere they can put their life down.

Veteran-Focused Support

Someone in their corner, and the resources and referrals that help.

Housing is the foundation, not the finish line. We stay alongside a veteran while they get steady again, and connect them with the resources and referrals that make the next step possible.

Pathways to Independence

A stable address, and the room to build a life on it.

When the address stops changing, everything else becomes possible again — routine, work, appointments, sleep, and the confidence that comes with your own front door.

A Stable Living Environment

A settled place to live, so the next step actually becomes possible.

Instability is exhausting. We are committed to creating a stable living environment that empowers a veteran to rebuild, thrive and achieve their goals — and that steadiness is the whole point of what we do.

Housing Across Memphis and the Surrounding Area

Serving Memphis, Tennessee and the communities around it.

We place veterans in and around Memphis — in neighborhoods that are quiet, accessible, and close to the services, work and support a veteran depends on.

How it works

Three steps, no maze. Most of the work happens in a single honest conversation.

01

Reach out

Call Tammie at (901) 677-3785, or send a short message through the site. Either one is enough to start — you do not need paperwork in hand to make the call.

02

Sit down and talk it through

You book an appointment and tell us about the veteran who needs housing — their situation, what is going on right now, and what would genuinely help. We listen first.

03

Housing is arranged

From there we work out the home and the details with you, and a veteran gets a door of their own, a steady address, and a place to begin again.

What a settled life looks like

A porch to sit on in the evening. A kitchen table to spread the mail out on. Keys that belong to you, and no one asking you to move on at the end of the month.

It sounds modest. For a veteran coming out of a hard stretch, it is everything — and it is the thing that makes the rest possible.

If yours is not here, call. It is a short conversation, and there is no charge for having it.

Veterans in Memphis, Tennessee and the surrounding area who need stable, affordable housing — and the caseworkers, relatives and friends who are trying to help them find it.

Memphis is home, and it is where most of our housing is. We also work with veterans in the surrounding communities. If you are not sure whether your area is covered, call and ask — it takes a minute.

No. Reaching out and sitting down with Tammie to talk through a veteran’s situation costs nothing. It is a conversation, and you are under no obligation at the end of it.

Call Tammie at (901) 677-3785, or send a short message through the contact form. She will set up a time to talk through the veteran’s needs, and housing is arranged from there.

Clean, well-kept, furnished houses in and around Memphis that are ready to live in from the first night, offered at a rent a veteran can actually sustain. Every home we provide is one we would be glad to hand the keys to.

Please do. A great many of the people who contact us are advocating for a veteran rather than the veteran themselves. There is a place on the form to tell us who the housing is for.
